The list of banned duplicate medicines in India includes 156 fixed-dose combinations  that were prohibited by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on August 2, 2024 . These FDCs were deemed irrational and potentially risky to humans, with safer alternatives available.


Some examples of banned FDCs include:
Digestive Enzyme Combinations


Amylase + Protease + Glucoamylase + Pectinase + Alpha Galactosidase + Lactase + Beta-Gluconase + Cellulase + Lipase + Bromelain + Xylanase + Hemicellulase + Malt diastase + Invertase + Papain 

Antibacterial and Antifungal Combinations :


Norfloxacin + Tinidazole, Ofloxacin + Beclomethasone Dipropionate + Lignocaine HCl  


Pain Relief Combinations: 

Aceclofenac 50mg + Paracetamol 125mg oral liquid, Aceclofenac 50mg + Paracetamol 125mg tablet 


Cough and Cold Combinations:

Cetirizine HCl + Phenylephrine HCl, Levocetirizine + Phenylephrine HCl ¹
